Also, there is one more common problem that almost everyone who going for a weight loss, may lose 3 to 5 kgs initially but then it would stop there. No matter how much we try, it won’t go down any further. No amount of dieting or vigorous exercise but no results. And we get so bored of the process that we would stop trying any further.

Have you wondered why we stop losing after a certain limit?

The biggest reason for that we consider body to be a robot, that it would behave in a particular fashion. Our weight gain is imbalance of calorie in and calorie out. If we would balance it, we will lose weight. More exercise means more loss of weight??

No Weight gain is more of a hormonal problem than calories. No not the thyroid?

But before I would explain it, let me tell you, body is a very intelligent machine. It would adjust to any kind of behaviour and environment. If we would take 5 to 6 meals a day it would feel hungry every 2 to 3 hours. If we take 1 or 2 meals in a day it would feel hungry only at that time of the day. So, if we are eating unscrupulously till now and suddenly, we decide to start dieting our BMR would fall off 30 to 50% from the present day after a few days.

So, when we start dieting, initially we would lose some weight as body is used to higher BMR but gradually it would come down so after some time the dieting would not help much as our BMR has fallen off approx. in the same ratio as we have reduced our calorie intake. So net result is zero?? Also, we are genetically not built to lose more weight in a certain period of time. If we would try harder let’s say more exercise and less eating, we may end up in losing up our precious muscle mass.

So, it is important to eat in a balanced manner so that it shouldn’t damage the muscles but body should lose the fat mass which is the main culprit behind almost all the chronic disorders of present day like HTN, T2DM, Obesity, Thyroid, Cancers, food allergies etc.

The key lies in the knowledge and following a balanced routine in a consistent manner than just jumping on the conclusion and taking abrupt measures. Remember friends, life has its own pace of settling, given the right time and the right routine everyone can have a perfect body with all its beauty in various colours and hues.
